Bring back the gloss

VCT Floor Stripping, Sealing & Waxing in Allen, TX

Scratched, yellowed tile refinished from the bare surface up and polished to a hard gloss, while your building is closed.

You Are Looking at the Coating, Not the Tile

A quick explanation helps here. Vinyl composition tile, the square tile in so many hallways, classrooms and breakrooms, is fairly plain on its own. The shine comes from a coating of floor finish on top. That coating is what takes the abuse. Shoes scratch it. Grit gets pressed into it. Over months it yellows and clouds, and at a certain point the floor looks grimy even right after it is mopped. Mopping cleans the surface of the coating. It cannot fix a coating that is worn out. The real fix is to take it off and build a new one. Commercial Cleaning Allen, in business for 38 years, does the whole job. A stripping solution goes down and a floor machine works it until the old coating breaks loose. Wet vacuums pull up the slurry and the tile is rinsed, since any residue would weaken the new layers. A sealer goes on next, then several thin layers of finish, each fully dry before another is added. A burnisher pass closes it out and hardens everything. We book it for nights or weekends so it can cure undisturbed.

The Refinish, Step by Step

Order matters. Here is the sequence we follow on a full job.

  • Clear and close

Desks and chairs moved out, baseboards protected and signs placed at each entry.

  • Break the old coating

Solution spread and scrubbed in by machine until the worn layers loosen.

  • Pick up and rinse

Slurry vacuumed off and clean water passes made until no residue is left on the tile.

  • Seal the surface

A base layer that fills the tile's pores so the finish has something to grip.

  • Build new layers

Thin layers rolled on, with full dry time allowed between each one.

  • High-speed polish

The burnisher spins over the top layer until it is hard and glossy.

  • A care schedule

Guidance on periodic burnishing so the gloss lasts until the next full refinish.

Planning a Refinish

  1. Measure and assess

We measure the tile, judge how worn the coating is and ask about foot traffic, then quote.

  2. Book the closure

A night or weekend slot is picked so the new layers can cure.

  3. Refinish and review

The crew completes the sequence, and a supervisor looks the floor over before people walk on it.
